First in Germany at Dresden, October 21, 1902; in France, at Paris, October 13,1903 (in French), and October 31, 1904, in Italian. Given at Budapest, May 10, 1906; Berlin,January, 1907; Vienna, October 26, 1909. First production in the Americas at Buenos Aires,June 16, 1900; in the United States, February 4, 1901, at the Metropolitan, the cast includingTernina, Cremonini, Scotti and Gilibert. Also produced in English by Henry W. Savage.The opera has become a fixture in the American opera repertoire, and more than fiftyperformances have been given at the Metropolitan
